Action | Amendment to comply with changes in public health practice |

I have just become aware of the proposed fast track of a proposal which would require that my, or my children's personal information be reported to the government in the case of a confirmed flu case; and that our personal medial information would be shared with government officials.
I am firmly against any such bill which would violate my personal privacy as protected by the Fifth Amendment which protects citizens against self-incrimination, and in turn protects the privacy of personal information.
Further, the sharing of my personal information in a medical setting violates the nature and intent of HIPPA laws already in place. My medical history, and that of my children, is my private information. Any medical tests, results, and discussions/diagnoses with a Dr. is clearly private and is information between myself and my Dr., and to a limited extent, the insurance company; although they are not allowed to know test results - only that tests were ordered and done.
I urge you to vote no on these proposed amendments to 12 VAC 5-90 requiring the reporting of detailed personal information.
