I oppose this change. Graduates of non-CACREP couseling-psychology programs should have the potential to become licensed. There is a shortage of qualified counselors and other behavioral health practitioners in the state, especially in more rural areas. The proposed policy would prevent competent Master's level mental health workers from providing needed services to Virginians. Please consider the impact of disallowing a huge resource when quality mental health services are in such high demand. Allowing the pursuit of the LPC by psychology masters graduates can only help promote the education and production of more competent counselors, along with those who graduate from M.Ed. programs. Thank you.
