While there is nothing wrong with degrees from CACREP institutions, Virginia should not limit its most vulnerable constituents - those who need mental health support - to only this small cadre of professionals. To do so would harm those Virginians who need help by limiting access to care - there are not enough of CACREP certified practitioners. It would also be a disservice to Virginia’s economy in this market; there are plenty of highly qualified mental health practitioners in the counseling community who will need to establish businesses on the other side of the Potomac.
Vote no for CACREP-only.
