The State Board of Elections made the right decision in June when it voted to allow expired but otherwise acceptable photo IDs to be used for voting purposes. Expired driver's licenses and passports should be allowable forms of identification for voting. A photo ID is used to confirm identity, not residence, so it is irrelevant whether or not the ID is expired. Virginia requires that each voter orally state their name and current adrress -- this is the step which confirms that the voter is voting in the correct polling place. Please do not disenfranchise voters! We should make voting easier, not harder. Thank you!
