I absolutely disagree with Dental Assistant scaling. I was a dental assistant for four years and I DO NOT see myself as a dental assistant scaling teeth. I am now a dental hygiene student and it is my first semester so far what I have learned in lecture and in clinic is a lot of information and technique that I did not knew when I was a dental assistant. As a student I know now how a calculus look like I did not had any idea or the knowledge when I was a dental assistant. So how can you imagine a dental assistant set thier and scale teeth when they don't know what a calculas look like. I am absolutely against dental assistant scaling, I do not even go to the practice that allows their assistant to polish forget about assistant scaling my teeth.
