I oppose this bill. As a former high school athlete, I understand the urge to maintain fairness in competitive sports, although I question how much of an advantage really exists among younger children or those who have undergone hormone therapy (both of which are covered in this bill). I also understand that it is incredibly weird and creepy to pass legislation that subjects young people to the kind of scrutiny that will inevitably follow... It is also harmful to the same young girls and women that the bill alleges to protect. Many young women are concerned that they are not living up to the feminine ideal every single day; it leads to lower confidence, mental health issues, and body issues -- THIS is a public health issue, NOT the presence of trans girls and women. In fact, this bill will only further exacerbate these issues. We should not be in the business of pointing to young girls and women and questioning their genitalia. Full stop.
