I live in Alexandria and I oppose Action 4905. Everyone is afforded equal protection by the 14th amendment, but this hateful petition does not protect the right of trans children to exist and thrive. Its basis is rooted in misinformation about disparity in performance by trans athletes. There is no peer-reviewed research that supports this narrative of inequity. Instead of focusing on Virginians genitals and the way they dress, the Department of Health needs to focus on issues that actually impact our residents like domestic violence, food insecurity, the cost of medicines, and the sustainability of rural hospitals and medical centers.
