I am opposed to the SEL proposal because it reduces students and parents into a homogeneous entity that is controlled by an ideology that denies individual freedom of thought.  I am also concerned by the unknown meaning of "global citizen".  First of all, I am a member of my nuclear family, then the extended family, then my local community, then my state, and lastly my country in that order.  Globally, I am one person of humanity but not a "legal citizen", which connotes some form of legal obligation to an as yet global government.  Is SEL a trojan horse for Marxism/Socialism?
