As followers of Christ we are strongly opposed to this legislation. The Bible clearly states God created them, male and female. As a Christian we are called to follow his word which goes against everything in this legislation.
As parents of 2 young daughters this legislation is terrifying. Passing this opens the door to potential sexual abuse in bathrooms, locker rooms, etc. The thought of a man being in the same bathroom with our girls is nauseating. There is nothing that stops a sexual predator from using this label as an excuse to get closer to our children and yours.
As an educator who frequently takes students on overnight trips this is also concerning for the reasons mentioned above. Further, your legislation suggests giving accommodations to someone who feels uncomfortable. These trips are already expensive and allowing someone to have a room to themselves because they are uncomfortable just doesn't makes sense.
Sports are not addressed yet but we know this will be a stepping stone. We want our young girls to have the opportunity to compete against other young ladies in the future in fair competition. Any athletic event where a girl will be forced to compete against a transgender male will not be fair and put the girl at a disadvantage. This is common sense and just plain science.
We believe everyone to be equal and no one should be harassed or abused but when your rights tramples on the rights of our girls, we have now become the victims.
Please do not pass this legislation.
