Guidance Document Change: The Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools guidance document was developed in response to House Bill 145 and Senate Bill 161, enacted by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the Virginia Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These guidelines address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures, and standards relating to: compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws; maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment for all students; prevention of and response to bullying and harassment; maintenance of student records; identification of students; protection of student privacy and the confidentiality of sensitive information; enforcement of sex-based dress codes; and student participation in sex-specific school activities, events, and use of school facilities.

WHY WOULDNT YOU SUPPORT THIS
 

there is literally no reason to oppose this.. unless you're a complete and absolute idiot. if you have more than 2 braincells you should have the sense to not oppose something that does nothing to affect you and does everything to aid someone else. there's people who need this. badly. CHILDREN who need this. the fact that some of the people here commenting can't get that through their heads astounds me. believe it or not bill, scott, and "american patriot"- this isn't about you. it's about people facing struggles that you don't understand and that they don't need to be facing in the first place. actually, it's about  students AKA people so young you probably don't even remember being thier age, pam. and if you do i'm willing to bet good money it's moderately positive memories and not gender and identity discrimination. these kids are put in positions you and i aren't. you simply don't know what it's like for them. who are you to decide what they do or don't need and/or deserve? who gave you those credentials?

and just so we're all clear: it's a scientific fact that gender is NOT a binary. the only people going against science here are the uneducated conservatives obsessed with the idea that there are exactly two sexes and exactly two genders. you're wrong and throwing hissy fits about students being treated properly despite being (what you have incorrectly decided is) "against science" is only showing your lack of knowledge on the subject and the fact that no one should take you seriously. either research these topics correctly and listen to scientists or don't give your unwanted, oppressive "opinions". human rights aren't opinions. and on that note: being against human rights isn't really a cute look.

if you're sincerely concerned about this getting passed- i suggest you do some serious self reflecting.
