Recent studies show that wearing masks and social distancing does in fact decrease the spread of COVID-19. Make it mandatory.  Everyone wants to get back to the "normal times", the sooner we all get on board with stopping the spread by wearing masks and self-imposed social distancing, the sooner that can happen.  It it awful that something as benign as a piece of cloth could become politicized.  If people don't care about their fellow Americans enough to wear one, then they can stay home and everyone staying home helps combat the spread anyway -- win win.  So either make sweeping enforceable mandates on being in public or force everyone to stay home to save lives.
