As a former employee at the Sarah Dooley Center for Autism I know that seclusion should not be an option in public schools when it was not even an option in a school where we had some of the most dangerous children. These children are being taught how to manage their actions and they are restrained by employees who are highly trained individuals. Floor restraints should never be used as they can result in death. Even Sarah Dooley did not use floor restraints. If restraints are going to be used in public schools then each employee in those schools needs to be in high quality training to do the restraints. If you are not trained in restraints, DO NOT try to restrain children, it can result in death or injury. Seclusion should NEVER be an option.
