I am not a veterinarian or work in a veterinary hospital but I am a pet owner and I use to work in the veterinary industry calling on veterinary practices.  I support this petition because of the over whelming support it has from veterinarians.  I have seen first hand the shortage of LVTs in the profession.  And I know that the vets I use to work with want nothing more than to provide the best care to their patients and the best service to their clients.  I know that this is true of most vets and cannot image that so many vets would be in support of this petition if it not in their mind the best option for their clients and patients at this time.  Hopefully in the future the shortage of LVTs can be corrected but it will take time.  LVTs have been licensed in Virginia for over 30 years so I cannot image this deficit will go away over night.  Till then I believe allowing unlicensed staff to place IV catheters should be allowed.
