I have worked in Veterinary Medicine for over 12 years and I strongly support this petition. The skill of placing IV catheters can be safely delegated to properly trained assistants under the supervision of a Veterinarian without compromising patient care. There are not enough LVTs in the state of Virginia to limit this task to only DVMs and LVTs.
