I have owned Town and Country Veterinary Clinic in Christiansburg VA now for 25 years.  Currently the clinic employees over 60 employees of which 9 are veterinarians and clinic is opened 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!  For YEARS we have struggled to find licensed veterinary technicians to fill available positions.  As an emergency clinic we are often times presented with numerous cases that require IV catheter placement at the same time which if there is not a LVT on shift, the veterinarian must stop what they are doing and place the catheter.  

I feel confident that we could oversee and train veterinary assistants to properly place IV catheters in small animals.  So we strongly support IV placed by non licensed veterinary technicians,
