This change would provide no benefit to the citizens of Virginia. Assigning the duties of a licensed, formally educated practitioner, capable of performing these duties with the knowledge base to treat and prevent oral disease, to a member of the dental team with no educational requirements would take away from the high quality of care Virginians are receiving from registered dental hygienists.
