Commenter: Josh, a guy who doesn't like lowered standards

I'm also in favor of nurses performing surgeries! (LPNs, even!)

This is really a no-brainer.  Allow me to make a few parallels:

  • If my car won't start, I'm gonna take it to the guy who tells me he can fix it the cheapest.  Even if he's a plumber.  And not a good plumber.
  • I don't mind if a flight-attendant flies the plane so long as my fare is marginally lower.
  • I always use court stenographers to defend me in court.  They've heard a lot of cases!

But when it comes to letting people scrape around inside my mouth with terrifying impliments, I'd prefer to know that my torturer knows EXACTLY what they're doing; exactly what they're looking for and exactly how to get it out/off.

I really don't much care if this proposal passes, as I'd never go to a dentist that would utilize underprepared personel on such an already unpleasant affair.  This message board shows several dentists out there still care about patient health and well-being MORE than meeting (or lowering!) minimum state requirements.  I am, however, dismayed at the number who appear to think only in terms of profit margin.

And you can bet that no matter what these bar-lowering dentist would be paying their workers, the price you pay wouldn't decrease.
