I strongly oppose allowing the practice of supragingival scaling to be performed by any oral health care provider other than a registered dentist or registered dental hygienist because only they have received the level of professional training necessary to be able to perform this service at a level necessary for optimal oral health outcomes. Increasing access to care is a valid rationale for change only if an equal level of care is available to ALL patients at ALL times in EVERY location.
