All Virginians deserve reasonable access to dental care which starts with entry into the health-care system. Entry entails information gathering and diagnosis. It is obvious, even to the casual observer, that the presence of dental accretions hinders the gathering of valid information -the diagnostic process. Statistically many Virginians are not able to enter the system because of the back-log at most offices for porphylaxis. Dental hygienists are only able to adequately treat a finite number of patients daily. Adding the Dental Assistant II would greatly enhance our ability to lift this burdon from the hygienists while serving the citizens of this great Commonwealth.
