I have practiced Dental Hygiene for 40 years and I am "blown away" that the Virginia Board of Dentistry or any other  state board would even consider training Assistants to scale teeth.I am so opposed to this proposal!As a dental proffessional, our most important job is to provide the best possible care to our patients and to compromise this by giving duties to an assistant to scale 3mm pockets pockets is unacceptable.
