This past May, I graduated from the dental hygiene program at VCU. I’ve worked very hard the last four years to earn a bachelor degree and to become a dental professional. I was well educated and well trained by my professors. If dental assistants were allowed to scale, would they have the sufficient knowledge, education and experience to do the task? If dental assistants were allowed to scale, what would be the real difference between a dental hygienist and an assistant? If this law were to pass, would the last four years of hard work mean anything?
