I Participated in the Military's Prophy Tech Program

While working as a General Dentist at Marine Corp Air Station Cherry Point in Havelock, NC, I was involved in the early implementation of the military's advanced prophy tech program.  I worked with advanced technicians (assistants) that successfully provided supragingival scaling and restoration placement for many sailors and marines.  Each procedure was carefully scrutinized by an attending DDS or DMD.

I completed my active duty in May 2003.  Five years later, the program continues to thrive and provide help to an understaffed US Navy Dental Corps.  The principle mission of dentists in the military is to establish optimum dental health for those who defend our nation.  I can assure you that if these advanced prophy technicians did not have the skills to provide optimum dental health for our military, which could compromise our ability to fight and defend, then the program would have been discontinued.

Thank you for your time.
