NO to DAII

I think this is absolutely crazy!! I am a student in the Dental Hygiene program at ETSU. I also have worked as a C.D.A, R.D.A for 3 years, and I can speak honestly when I say that the amount of education that A Dental Assistant has is nowhere educated enough to scale and assume the positions of a trained hygienist. At the minimum, the appropraite requirement for job should be B.S.D.H. This is not fair, and poses a HUGE threat to patient safety. Assistants do not aquire the knowledge of tooth anatomy that is necessary in order to practice our procedures. Why are trained in the best schools for 2 years? To be a knowledgable and experienced clinician that is trained in patient safety and care. ABSOLUTELY NO TO DAII!!!!
