NO i am not in favor of dental assistant II for many reasons.  Just scaling calculus is not the only job a Hygienist has.  lower expectation  and under mind treatment of patients are not a porper way to be successful provider.  I am reading the doctors comments and it makes me sick to stomach to see how they value patients. I know and i think what is the main idea.   Money should not be the only motivation behind this action.  unfortunately i see unlawful and being not truth to themselves is a major issue.   doctors saying most of their patients (over 80%) being teenage and young adult in their practice can be seen by assistant  because they are perio I.  I have yet to see any teenage who can brush their teeth properly.    I was a dental assistant and i did help out with removing cements under crown but removing subgingival calculas is nothing compare to what i am doing now. If removing cement is same as removing subgingival calculus than i have seen enough Occlusal restorations that i can drill and fill a some cavities.  I have been assistant for many years.    if doctors treat their profession as car saleman than i have nothing else to add.  I believe  knowlege of a hygienist is more that just scaling some bioflim.  If cleanig teeth should be done by an assistant than the price of propholaxis should be less too.
