I've been a practicing dental hygienist since 1994.  I graduated from the Medical College of Virginia, VCU which is an accredited dental hygiene program.  I was trained extensively on periodontal health and care with numerous hours on scaling and instrumentation.  I am writing to oppose ANY and ALL scaling duties for the newly created Dental Assitant II.

As an oral health care provider, my concern is compromising the quality of care for our patients.  How can you guarantee that the DAII will get the equivalent "extensive training" as a dental hygienist?
