I absolutely don't agree with dental assistants being able to scale patient's teeth. Prior to being a dental hygiene student, I was a dental assistant for 3 years. Dental assistants are not educated enough to perform this task and  I would feel robbed of my educational experience if this were to pass. Is the patient's safety a concern? I sure hope so because they will be the ones who loses out in the end. Having a dental hygienist who is well educated is most benefical.
