I am deeply disturbed to read that dental assistants may be able to perform supragingival scaling in the Commonwealth of Virginia. 

This is truly a shame for the people of Virginia, because these so called "cleanings" they recieve will only cause them more dental problems.  All of this to fatten the wallets of dentists is truly shameful.  Watch out residents of Virginia! Because at the rate things are going here, the next thing you know General Dentists will be able to perform oral and perio surgery without being qualified.
