Dental Hygienists go through a very intense program at an accredited school to learn how to properly treat a dental patient. My opinion is, if you want to scale teeth, go back to college and be trained the correct way. A patient's health should not be compromised for a dentist's dollar! DAII = less training + less pay + less quality of patient care = lawsuit. Considering the minute difference between 3mm and 4mm, there is an increased chance the DAII would be going deeper than 3mm and cause trauma to the patient resulting in various complications. Please reconsider the duties assigned to the DAII as they ARE NOT and will NEVER be as thoroughly trained as a Dental Hygienist!!!
