Consent is a necessity and observation essential

If I am hospitalized, every person in contact with me is identified by name and profession. I know whether it's a nurse, a doctor, a medical student or the housekeeping staff that's in my room or talking with me. Why would I or any knowledgeable pet owner not care about the qualifications of the person treating my cat or dog?

Furthermore, what veterinary student would not want to be identified as a student? And who would want to put a student in the position of essentially IMPERSONATING a veterinarian? I trained in a profession (social work) where students working toward their MSW degrees served in intensive internships and were identified as students from the beginning of work with clients. It's straightforward and leaves no one feeling like an imposter nor imposed on. How peculiar that Virginia's veterinary school would think of putting students and clients in the position of not knowing who's who.

Clear and honest communication is a necessity in professional relationships. Why would Virginia consider any other option?
