I strongly disagree with Dental assistants scaling. I am a recent dental hygiene graduate and believe this is lowering the standard of care to our patients. Dental Hygienist are the licensed professionals with the knowledge and training to explore and scale supra and subgingivally. If dental assistants are allowed to scale supra then who is to take care of the localized areas of subgingival calculus on Class I patients. Also who will determine if the patient is a Class I? This is about qaulity of care not qauntity. Please vote no to DA II's scaling!!
