This letter is in strict opposition to the scaling that would be allowed by dental assistants.  Are we forgetting the amount of education required not only by RDH's, but BSDH's as well.  Dental hygienists take extensive pride focusing on patient safety, extensive oral health care, and education.  Please do not allow the dental profession to become corrupt for mere convenience and/or profit.  I find it disheartening that this would even be an issue in todays society.
