I am strongly opposed to dental assistants scaling teeth, be it supra or sub.  Dental Hygienists are required by law, and rightly so, to meet  and maintain certian educational requirements.  Allowing dental assistants to scale teeth erodes not only the educational value of dental hygiene, but also the quality of care being offered to the citizens of the Commonwealth.  Please, remember that dental huygienists treat their patients using this educational knowledge and with the professionalism which goes along with the education and the profession of dental hygiene.
