Practical training

Currently, enrolled student technicians can apply the classroom and practical knowledge they have been presented in their curiculum. The same could apply to the veterinary student however, any liability and disclosure to the client must be considered. Regulations are to protect the consumer/client and we certainly can't cause potential harm to any patients because of this proposal.  Immediate and direct supervision woulld be essential.

Not all practices have the same standards as the veterinary teaching hospitals and even though a student may be gaining practical knowledge, it may not corelate with the methods they have been taught. With accreditation, the schools are held to certain standards, and we may not be able to verify the appropriateness of the practical knowledge gained in private practice.
