Providing Experience; this will NOT be at the cost of care

With all due respect to some of the general public, I think there has been a lot of knee-jerk emotional responses to this petition. No where does it say a 1st-3rd year would be allowed to be solely responsible for veterinary care of any animal. They will still have to be strictly monitored by liscensed veterinarians because that practioner's reputation and lisence will be on the line.

Animals won't be 'experimented' on for experience. And this isn't a vague attempt at improving 'vet school rankings' because, let me tell you, those don't matter in the real world. This is about allowing basic procedures and treatments to be taught at earlier parts in the curriculum. Students want to be able to further their education on the summer under experienced, well-trained veterinarians because that's how dedicated they are to trying to be good veterinarians. Please consider passing this proposal.
