In Support of Supervised Experience

The Veterinarian's Oath:

Being admitted to the profession of veterinary medicine, I solemnly swear to use my scientific knowledge and skills for the benefit of society through the protection of animal health and welfare, the prevention and relief of animal suffering, the conservation of animal resources, the promotion of public health, and the advancement of medical knowledge.
I will practice my profession conscientiously, with dignity, and in keeping with the principles of veterinary medical ethics.
I accept as a lifelong obligation the continual improvement of my professional knowledge and competence.

This is the oath I swore upon my admittance to VA-MD Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at my white coat ceremony in 2011. It is the same oath I will stand up and swear upon my graduation day in 2015.

This is a 4 year journey in which I and all of my classmates strive to learn all that we can to be the very best we can be in our chosen feild. So that we can do what we have always dreamed of doing: Treating and Saving animals from suffereing. Do not for one moment think we would do anything that would endanger or harm your animals. We want and ask only more opportunities to practice under a liscensed veterinarian the skills which we ARE TAUGHT  in vet school. We ARE COMPETANT in these task, we want only the chance to HONE these skills so that we can be even better. There is truth to the old addage Rome wasnt built in a day. We want to serve you at our best. We will not be soley responsible for treating your beloved pets, we will be assisting the Veterinarian. The task we perform would be up to the discretion of the veterinarian and the abilities/experience of the student. When you take your pet to a vet clinic it is not just one person helping to heal your pet, it is a WHOLE TEAM, with the Veterinarian as the Captan, Coach, and Leader. A veterinary student could only add to the advantage of that team.

With Supervised Hands on experience, we would do no harm, we would only work to do the good that we have sworn to do.
