I will be the first to admit that I do not know all the unforeseen consequences of this change;however, my belief is that there may not be adequate supervision over the vets who are supposed to be training these students in the feild. In our community, there was a board certifieed vet who was allowed to practice for a very long time, despite not meeting all the required reporting regulations. How will this be any different? My main concern is not about these students being allowed to see pets in clinical situations, but that overworked vets will send out students unsupervised on large-animal calls, which are time consuming for the vet. Will the farmer be informed that his "vet" is a 2nd year student?
