It is absolutely essential that practical experience not be limited to fourth year veterinary students.  Clinical experience, under the direction of a veterinarian, helps students to apply the knowledge they have been developing in the classroom.  While the material we learn through textbooks is valuable, clinical experience allows us to truly understand and apply that material.  Applying this material during the earlier years of our veterinary education will enable us to enter the work force as more competent veterinarians.  It is without hesitation that I support this petition.
