NO NO NO to assistants scaling!!!!

In all due respect, this is one of the WORST porposals I have ever heard in the dental profession.  After all the schooling, exams, state board exams, and clinical exams that a hygienist goes through, the last thing we want for our profession is to have someone without all of the education, sweat, and tears we put in,  be able to do some of our duties.  This is extremely dangerous to ALL patients regardless of PERIO TYPE.  The extensive education and licensing is for a reason--the health and safety of the public.  Just like someone else posted, would a dentist want a hygienist doing a filling or crown?  No, because that is what they went to school for and have thorought training in, not hygienists.  Same case here!!!!  Please think long and hard about this before putting our patients in jeopardy to save the dentists and practices a little time and money.  These are PEOPLE we are talking about, not just a patient number with a dollar sign attached!
