No lowering of standards.

Post after post I continue to read – Yes to scaling for DH II under the supervision of a dentist. Are you trying to tell me that the dentist will sit in the room and supervise these procedures? I think not. If that were the case than why doesn’t the dentist perform these procedures themselves? This makes no sense. There is something fundamentally wrong with this proposition. The same issues that have afflicted our public schools are now entering into medicine. Because individuals choose not to go through the proper schooling curriculum, standards are lowered and the patient is made to suffer. While you are at it you might as well lower the standards for dentists and allow hygienists perform dentist duties. In my opinion this will not affect me one way or the other because I will not allow anyone below a hygienist perform these kinds of procedures. I am sure that I am not the only one who thinks this way? Let us try and think about the cost savings from those dentists who do allow this lowering of standards to those dentists out of proper principles that do not. Which way do you think a patient may go? Let’s think logically about this - Lowering standards= lower number of patients=lower profits.
