I strongly support this petition. As Psychology candidates, we are taught many skills in the counseling and clinical tracts. We are trained to hear, diagnose, and treat. It is a disservice to Virginians to deny Psychology majors the opportunity to become LPCs. The curriculum for Psychology is typically more stringent and more comprehensive than the curriculum for Counselor Ed programs. Properly educated Psychology majors are well equipped to serve Virginia's citizens as LPCs.
