I have worked for New River Valley Community Services for 27 years, providing mental health and substance abuse counseling and clinical supervision. I have hired and supervised numerous interns and employees from various graduate level counseling and clinical psychology programs. I have acted as LPC supervisor for employees in a variety of clinical roles, such as outpatient, emergency and residential services. I can say without reservation that students from the Radford University Master's Degree in Clinical Counseling Psychology are well prepared to provide high quality services to clients with a wide range of mental health and substance abuse problems. I have encountered graduates from the RU program work in our agency for several years, then have to return to school to complete an additional, redundant Master's Degree in order to advance within the field. I fully support this petition.
