I support the Board of Nursing’s proposed action to revise its regulations to provide for provisional licensure so that graduates can work as registered nurses to meet the Board’s requirement for supervised clinical experience. I have been an LPN for 24 years, with a vast amount of nursing experience in many professional settings (hospital- step down ICU/CCU, rehabilitation facilities, physicians offices/clinics, and presently hospice and palliative care). I am IV Certified and hold a national certification in hospice in palliative care nursing (CHPLN). As an adult learner, who must continue to maintain a fulltime work schedule, I feel this change would allow me to bring all of my current knowledge and experience to the table, as I continue my studies to become an RN in my state of Virginia.
