My husband and I have been active participants in monitoring and aiding the recovery of our nephew. For the last three years, he has been a proud and successful resident of the Oxford House located on Pine Hill Road in McLean, Virginia. Their program, which relies on self-governance, is an amazing example of how recovery programs work best - by promoting leadership and self-reliance in a caring and supportive community. They do not need a paid operative - they do the hard work themselves and reap the rewards.
Please keep the Oxford House Model in place in Virginia. Look to its success record and make sure it is allowed to continue doing the work that it is uniquely qualified to do.
