Recovery home regulations

I understand that Virginia is revising the rules for recovery homes in a way that would preclude Oxford Houses from operating. The proposed rules would require Oxford Houses to shut down, resulting in hundreds of recovering men and women losing  their safe residential environment. Oxford Houses are time tested and have aided the recovery of thousands of men and women.

I have been an owner of an Oxford House for 25 years and am proud to know that many of its former residents have gone on to own their own homes and get their lives back on track. They have been appreciative of the opportunity to regain their independence and lead drug/alcohol-free lives.

It is vitally important that the new rules permit Oxford House Inc. to continue certifying individual Oxford Houses as they have done since 2019, rather than treating those residences like commercial businesses.

Please, don't implement rules that will destroy a highly successful program.
