Hi, my name is Amber Hollar. I am an alumni of Oxford Houses. I started my recovery journey in Oxford house in 2019. Oxford House and the connections made by the support of the other Oxford House members saved my life. Oxford is fully self supporting and self governing. This taught me many life lessons that I needed to get and remain clean. I learned to be an adult in Oxford House. I learned how to hold others accountable and how to be held accountable. I leaned how to pay bills, hold office positions, do service work, get and maintain a job, how to be a functioning member of society, and how to be part of something so meaningful in my community. I am still part of the sisterhood in Oxford to this day.
I now work as a Case Manager for Recovery Court today at the local CSB. I am able to help others the way Oxford House helped me. Please do everything you can to protect the Oxford House model. It is the golden standard to recovery housing and it has saved not only my life, but many people dear and near to me. Thank you.
