My brother lives in the Oxford house in Manassas, Va. Which is self governing and ran by the peers that live there. With the peers running the house together it gives them motivation and responsibility which helps with keeping sober. A lot of people sometimes struggle with sobriety and this gives them something to look forward to daily. The Oxford house has helped my brother stay sober and has given him something to look forward to daily. Some people don’t have any other support system besides the Oxford house. The peers at the Oxford house support each other and are there for each other while trying to deal with sobriety. Being self run and not a commercial business is what keeps everything going smoothly. Please reconsider not closing the Oxford houses. What will happen to everyone that has been sober and trying to stay sober? We don’t want these people on the streets again. With my brother living there my family and I have peace knowing that he is safe and doing the right thing.
