Please realize that most hygienist scale most patients below the gumline every single visit. There is always tartar found subgingivally in even the healthiest mouths. Are you doing to incorporate a time allowance for a hygienist or doctor to step in and subgingivally explore and scale ? If not, you’re fraudulently providing a sub par prophylaxis under the guise of better access to care. The patient will suffer as the tartar festers and years later we will see the repercussions of this horribly navigated ideal. If you at the very least make it a requirement to inform the patient, atleast they will know. Please consider adding vernacular that stresses the subgingival exploring and finishing work must be done by RDH or DDS. I understand the crisis happening, and the need for RDH’s. Schools need more funding and then we will have enough again. Until then, let’s not turn on each other, let’s work together for our patients which we took an oath to do.
