I am convinced of the value of and firmly support Vanguard Landing and its mission to provide meaningful housing, services, and opportunities for individuals with disabilities.  As a professional who has worked in the field of developmental and intellectual disabilities for more than forty years, I have witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by individuals and families seeking safe, supportive, and inclusive communities.  I have also seen the transformative impact that high-quality programs and housing initiatives can have on the lives of people with disabilities.  

Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals across a wide range of abilities and support needs.  One consistent lesson has remained clear:  every person deserves the opportunity to live with dignity, independence, purpose, and community connection.  Vanguard Landing's vision and practices align directly with these principles by creating an environment where individuals with disabilities can thrive, develop meaningful relationships, and actively participate in community life. 

The need for innovative and affordable housing options has never been greater.  Families often struggle to find long-term residential solutions that balance independence with appropriate support services.  Vanguard Landing addresses this critical need by offering a model that promotes self-determination while ensuring access to the resources necessary for personal growth, health, safety and well-being.  

What particularly impresses me about Vanguard Landing is its commitment to fostering inclusion rather than isolation.  The organization recognizes that individuals with disabilities are valuable members of our communities who have talents, aspirations, and contributions to offer. For these reasons, I strongly support Vanguard Landing becoming a Medicaid waiver provider so that individuals who require waiver-funded services can access the supportive housing, programs and opportunities that Vanguard Landing offers.  For too many individuals with disabilities and their families struggle to find communities that provide both meaningful independence and the supports necessary for long-term success.  By becoming a Medicaid provider, Vanguard Landing will be able to expand access to essential services and ensure that individuals who rely on waiver funding hav the opportunity to live, grow, and thrive in a safe, inclusive, and person-centered environment.  I am confident that this designation will allow Vanguard Landing to serve those with the greatest need while advancing its mission of promoting dignity, choice, and community inclusion for people with disabilities.
