SHRM - Society for Human Resource Management recommends that you do not ask for sensitive information such as SSN on employment applications / resumes. The SSN is typically obtained after an offer of employment is made and the potential employee starts the background check process.
Can we remove the requirement for the SSN on the application since is is already required for background check process so we know it will be obtained at that time?
