I Oppose Hound Trespass Bill

DWR,

I am writing to oppose the hound trespass bill, I feel like all hunters in Virginia should be able to enjoy every form of hunting.  Over the years it seems that the DWR has evolved into the most anti hunting group in the state, at what point does it stop? The Virginia General Assembly chose to not take action on this matter and it seems y’all did not like our legislators decision so you proceed along.  I feel the DWR should be helping preserve each and every form of hunting in the state and hosting events to get more kids involved in hunting.  In Charlotte County our hound hunters are the same ones that serve on the fire departments, sheriff’s office, board of supervisors, rescue squads and so many other essential organizations.  When I see the community rally behind those in need whether it’s illness or cancer, there you can find the hound hunter’s. Why do the folks that serve the community and constantly do good get attacked the most?  We have a 5,000 acre state forest in Charlotte County that has endless possibilities and opportunities for the youth and citizens of the county but instead it’s barely maintained.  The money wasted over this study could have hosted youth hunts, veterans hunts, or even just a hike/tour. I would like to ask each member of the DWR to strongly oppose this bill and start heading in a proactive direction.  I am very appreciative of your work but this is my honest opinion as a Virginia Hunter.

Sincerely,

Patrick Andrews

Charlotte County
